Chris Murphy has been named co-anchor of the early edition of “Good Day Philadelphia” from 4:25 – 6 a.m., announced Jim Driscoll, the station’s Vice President and News Director.
In making the announcement, Driscoll stated, “Chris is the perfect addition to our dynamic morning team, whose energy, chemistry and camaraderie is unmatched. His personality is contagious and we can’t wait to introduce him to our loyal ‘Good Day Philadelphia’ viewers.”
Most recently, Murphy served as weekend anchor and reporter for KGTV-TV in San Diego. Prior to that, he was a reporter for KNSD-TV in San Diego. Murphy has held news anchor and reporter positions at various stations, including KGW-TV and KPTV-TV in Portland, OR, KRON-TV in San Francisco, KTVN-TV in Reno, NV and KIEM-TV in Eureka, CA. Earlier in his career, Murphy hosted “Travel Gear” on The Travel Channel. He began his career as a newsroom intern for KGET-TV in Bakersfield, CA.
Added Murphy, “After 20 years in this business, I have finally landed my dream job. I love the culture and news product at FOX 29 and am excited to join a premier morning show with tremendous momentum that is not only informative, but downright fun. My wife and I are thrilled to raise our two young children in the Philadelphia area, known for its abundant cultural opportunities and historical significance (our kids are most excited about the snow!)”
A graduate of the University of California-San Diego, Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.
