How long will Josh Innes Last in Philly?

Josh Innes and his only friend in Philly???
To say the least the new night host is not playing well in Philadelphia? He was brought here by CBS Radio management to give a boost to ratings for 94 WIP. From what I understand he did quite well on the sports radio station in Houston. He is a rising star within corporate circles. Why not? He's made a lot of money for CBS. Apparently he had the option of choosing Philly or Atlanta. He should have chosen Atlanta.

The problem with Josh Innes is that he doesn't know Philly sports. He has not lived and died with the few successes and the multitude of defeats that the Philadelphia sports fans have endured over the years. The reason hosts like Al Morganti, Glen Macnow, Ray Didinger and even Angelo Cataldi and Howard Eskin have done well is because they were journalists. They were newspaper men who have been in the locker rooms for years watching games and interviewing players. In Eskin's case he done it all including TV. Even Mike Missanelli over at 97.5 The Fanatic was also an Inquirer writer.

Josh Innes needs to know that Philly could care less about national stories. It's Eagles, Eagles, Eagles and more Eagles. Phillies during baseball season and if the Flyers and Sixers make the playoffs we will talk about them. We could care less about college sports especially SEC football. I've listen to a lot of sports talk radio and you get use to certain callers who call in. THEY ARE a part of the show and the station. None of them seem to call in to Josh. He don't get us! Also the wacky morning show bits don't work. I heard him invite callers that were stoned on marijuana to call into the show. Talk about his girlfriend's breast. Taking a call from his grandmother. Come on dude! I wonder how long his contract runs. And to think his girlfriend radio personality Silly Jilly quit her job to follow him to Philly.

  1. I think this new guy is awful.....talked yesterday about "pleasuring Beyoncee"...what does that have to do with Philly Sports? I'm sorry but I'm turning this guy off when I hear him on the air from now on. Speculating that not many callers are listening either....! Please remove him NOW.

    1. I can't stand him. He's a want to be Stern without the talent. If he spent half of much time "doing" his show as he did talking about his show he might be okay. Only time I switch off WIP is when he's there talking about his shows ratings, or how much so and so loves his show.. WTF? Just talk about sports, its not that hard.

  2. I am posting this for the 2nd time as the first time was "removed?" This new guy John Innes is awful.....talked about "pleasuring Beyonce" yesterday on the air? What does this have to do with Philly Sports....please remove him now. Not too many callers either - I will not listen to his awful "debates" on the air any longer.

  3. He won't last. He stinks and acts as if the Midwest is the holy grail of the world, instead of the backwards place it really is. Get him out.

  5. Someone is a little bit upset. I think he is doing well. Who the hell are you to complain?

  6. Here is another anoymous comment! Who would want to post their name to having to admit to listening to this guy. Instead of listening to music, the Flyers, or Kansas basketball on 610 the other night I decided to tune in while driving around. He still don't get it. This is still a basketball town and he attacked the Sixers. Thhis aint Milwaukee or Sacramento when it comes to b-ball. Get a clue. WIP I rather listen to Spike Eskin or Farcetta if you think you have to put guys like Jody Mac, Ruben Frank, and Glen Macnow out to pasture for this clown.

  7. Innes was disliked in Houston. We couldn't wait to get him off the air. He was paired with a longtime Houston sports host who obviously couldn't stand him. Sorry Philly. He won't last long there either.

  8. Don't care for Josh and I have changed stations during the 6 to 10 pm slot. Ultimately the Arbitron ratings will determine if he stays, Remember less listeners and then less advertising revenue for the station. It will be interesting to see the ratings when they come out!!!

  10. After complaining to WIP management, they asked that I give him time and hoped I could get used to him. After 1 month of trying I just can't deal with his self-centered BS. Can't take listening to him either talking about non-sports talk, or him thinking he knows what he's talking about with Philly sport. Wish they dump him and move on.

  11. I think this guys is just plain AWFUL!!! When will they replace him. All he does is talk about himself and talk about controversial social issues. I listen to sports radio because I love sports not social topics!!! If I want social topics there are plenty of better talk shows to listen to. But I want sports because that takes my mind of problems and it is very relaxing and fun - that's what I want from sports talk. Yesterday I heard him talking about lesbians that are nice looking so they are ok -how insulting is that. I immediately changed the station to the fanatic. I will NOT listen to the Innes time slot anymore.

  12. well and i thought i was alone...wrote an email to the management and told that I may be the problem not giving this idiot a chance... My main problem is that he thinks he can school anybody on every topic and he is a hypocrite with ignited racial talks....

  14. Tonight --between 6pm and 630pm----Innes was reffering the Hamels as KYLE Hamels-----and----declared that that Braves and Nats will finish on top of the EAST ( even though it's only April)---an had to ask his producer if the Phil and Mets are rivals-----------all this in a half hour----------------wow !

  16. Update: Josh Innes continues to be awful.

After figuring out that by frustrating myself continuing to try to listen to him I was just giving him ratings, I began switching to the other sports station.

I've never switched off of the WIP before.

I have yet to hear him not insult our fans, our city, or our sports teams. That is when he is actually talking about sports.

These may be his opinions. But its not even entertaining.

WIP was good enough to go in to FM sports radio. For some reason everyone always wants more, if you have a good thing why keep trying to change it. I hope they survive this "we are the underbelly of the sports radio" PR move and get back to being as great as they always were.

if not it will be much easier to learn to like the other sports station then it will be to learn to like Josh.

How can we be the only ones that see this? someone just doesn't want to admit that they made a mistake. let's drop his rating so they don't have a choice.

    1. This is the exact same thing I was saying here in Houston a couple of years ago. Hopefully you guys won't have to put up with him much longer.

  17. I turn the dial whenever he is on--I hope the ratings show that I am not alone in doing that

  18. I live in Houston. Josh is great in off season when not much sports going on. He can make you laugh. When it comes to football.......

  19. Guess I'm in the minority. I like listening to Josh. Hope he continues to succeed here.

    1. You're not. Butthurt Philly fans who would rather listen to old guys act like everyone is their best friend are just more vocal. Give me more Rob Ellis...that's exciting... yawn.
