WMGK Cancels Michael Tearson's Saturday Morning Show

Longtime Philly and somewhat quirky local DJ Michael Tearson, who plays classic rock is off the airwaves in Philly at "Classic Rock" 102-9 'MGK. (Does that makes sense?) But you can still find him on the net. Tearson's a legend!

"I’m on the website Radio That Doesn't Suck, and on Sirius XM," Tearson told the Inquirer this week.

Here's a slightly cryptic, or possibly sarcastic message from Michael Tearson's facebook page-

"MT ON AIR: 1st NOT on WMGK as they cancelled Saturday Morning 60s this week losing a BBC Hour and Janis Joplin 70 BD live tribute.

Continuing on Sirius/XM Deep Tracks 27 Sat 4-10 PM/Sun 6-mid ET. and any old time you like free and on demand at www.rtds.ca"

RTDS is the Radio That Doesn't Suck website. It took awhile to find the show. Follow the "On Demand" Link.

Tearson's been on the air since 1967 at WXPN as a student at Penn. He went on to WDAS FM in 1970 with Hy Lit's "Hyski’s Underground" then shortly thereafter began a long run on WMMR.

  1. wmgk SUCKS! Saturday morning 60's was the only place to hear some cool old stuff. wmgk's plays the same old shit over and over again, ad nauseum!
If they get rid of Little Steven's Underground Garage there's no reason to tune in to that station again.

  2. My that was my tonic from a pain in the ass week to get the work crap out of my mind and revive with great rock I am seriously disappointed in MGK. I have to reconsider being an MGKer with blood, turkey, money, donations seriously now
