Wired 96.5 New Morning Show Host is Chunky, He's Some Dude Who Worked at Pat's
-From Wired 96.5 "We're starting a morning show. We're seriously bored of just giving away prizes & playing music in the morning. SO WE TOOK IT UPON OURSELVES... to recruit our sales girl Ghia & our dude that makes our Cheesesteaks at Pat's Chunky (against our boss's wishes). He wanted us to just shut up and play music... we want to give you more!
OK, enough of that... Wired 96.5 has hired Chunky (a real radio personality), the former XHTZ San Diego morning man for AM drive duties replacing "Chio in the Morning." He has also hosted nights at 92.3 Now FM in New York and Channel 955 in Detroit. He will be joined by Ghia from WBLI Long Island, producer JP, and morning show holdover Tingle and his crew of voices on the morning show.
Chunky commented on his latest market stop, "Getting the opportunity to host mornings in a Top-10 market is a dream come true for me. The fact that it is mornings at Wired 96.5 is icing on the big-ass cake." Ghia added, "I'm super excited to share a studio with such talented people! Big thank you to the Beasley Broadcasting family for believing in me and giving me my dream job! Now it's time to kick ass in Philly!"

Wired 96.5 Becomes "Flyered 96.5" this Weekend
In celebration of the return of the NHL, Philly's Party Station Wired 96.5 has changed the station's name to Flyered 96.5. The Flyers radio home for regular season games has switched from 94 WIP to 97.5 The Fanatic along with the Sixers. WMMR will serve as the alternate station when both teams play on the same night. I guess owner Greater Media doesn't mind that Beasley Broadcasting's station 'Wired' is flyered up and helping to promote the Flyers opening.
Maybe no one will notice that Casey, Buster, and Shamara are the only ones holding down the fort until backups arrive. Where's Tingle? Anyway Let's Go Flyers! It's been a long time coming.

Afternoon Personality DJ "Grooves" of Wired 96.5 Leaves the Station
Grooves, a Philly area native, has left Wired 96.5 as afternoon host and music director. I hear he will still produce his syndicated weekly "In The Mix With Grooves" show, which will continued to be heard on Wired. Grooves only relocated back to the area from Detroit's AMP 98.7 last Summer.
This comes on the heels of morning show personalities Chio and Shila leaving the station over the last month. Grooves said, "It's been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Dan Hunt, Beth Kent and Natalie Connor here in my hometown of Philadelphia. This team has done an amazing job defining this brand and I wish them nothing but continued success with Philly's Party Station." He added, "I'll also be contributing to Dom Theodore's Radio Animal consultancy and focusing on station ownership, including our newly purchased radio station in New England.
Night show host Buster is expected to take over the afternoon shift.

Chio of the Wired 96.5 Morning Show Fired
Morning drive host Chio of "Chio in the Morning" was given his release from Wired 96.5 (WRDW). His former co-hosts Shila and Tingle will continue to host the morning show until a main host is hired. Chio wanted his listeners to know that he did not just resign, as is the standard terminology used in the radio industry when a deejay is let go because of poor ratings. He was fired.
Chio said in an interview that he didn’t know what was next for him, but he is on the lookout for radio gigs all over the world. “Philly is my home and I’d love to stay. I would love to be in the ranks of Jerry Blavat, Hy Lit and Butterball … but at the end of the day, I have to put food on table.” Chio’s contract is not up until June so WRDW and Beasley Broadcasting will pay him until then to sit on the sidelines. Chio had been a part of the Philly radio scene since 1995, when he brought in as on-air personality at Q102.
